What is Invisalign®?
Invisalign® is the brand name of a company that creates clear orthodontic aligners. Unlike traditional braces that attach to your teeth, Invisalign features removable plastic trays. These are designed to fit over your teeth to straighten your smile over time.
What materials are the clear aligners made with?
Invisalign clear aligners are made with a strong, flexible plastic. The material is actually a patented thermoplastic material called SmartTrack. This technology was designed specifically for Invisalign® treatment.
How does Invisalign® treatment work?
Invisalign® treatment works by moving your teeth over time. However, unlike regular braces, it uses a strong plastic instead of metal. During treatment, you’ll wear a set of clear aligners until your teeth have shifted into the desired position. You’ll wear one aligner for 1 to 2 weeks before switching to the next aligner in the set. These devices create slight pressure to move teeth.
Who can benefit from Invisalign®?
Invisalign® can work for just about anyone! Invisalign® can benefit your life whether you’re a teen or an adult. Additionally, Invisalign is effective for a wide variety of teeth-straightening and bite problems. Even if you have a complex dental issue, Invisalign may be able to help.
How much does Invisalign® cost?
Invisalign® typically costs the same as other orthodontic treatments, such as standard braces. Also, many orthodontists and dentists offer payment plans to help you get started.
How does Invisalign® compare to traditional braces?
While both Invisalign and traditional braces move teeth into their desired position, they work and look much differently. Regular braces use metal brackets and wires to correct your smile, while Invisalign® features a clear plastic. Also, standard braces are attached to your teeth with a special dental cement, while Invisalign® is 100% removable.
Can I get Invisalign® if I already had braces?
Yes! While traditional braces are effective at moving teeth, sometimes teeth shift after treatment stops. Luckily, Invisalign® can help! Many Invisalign patients previously had braces at some point.
Does Invisalign® work with veneers or crowns?
Invisalign® works best on natural teeth, but treatment may still be possible if you have veneers or crowns. We suggest contacting your dentist or orthodontist to determine your needs and the best course of action.

Is Invisalign® comfortable?
Compared to standard braces, Invisalign aligners are very comfortable. You may feel slight pressure when just starting treatment, but this subsides over time. Having Invisalign® means you never have to deal with those bulky metal wires getting in the way!
When should I wear my Invisalign® clear aligners?
For the best results, wear your clear aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day. You should only take them off when brushing, flossing, eating, and drinking anything other than water. Also, while you’ll receive a set of aligners, make sure to switch to a new plastic tray every 1 to 2 weeks.
Are there any food restrictions during treatment?
Invisalign allows you to eat all of your favorite foods! This isn’t the case with standard braces, which have many foods to avoid. Invisalign® aligners are completely removable, allowing you to eat anything without food getting caught between your braces.
Is treatment painful at all?
Invisalign treatment is 100% pain-free! You may feel slight pressure when you wear a new plastic tray for the first time, but any discomfort should go away shortly.
How do I care for my Invisalign® aligners?
Brushing and rinse your aligners in lukewarm water after each use is encouraged. You may also use the Invisalign Cleaning Crystals or special cleaning tablets for a deeper clean. Also, try to brush your teeth after each meal before re-inserting your Invisalign plastic trays.
How long do I need to wear Invisalign®?
Treatment times vary from patient to patient. However, on some occasions, the entire treatment takes only 6 months to complete! Furthermore, you should start seeing results in just a few short weeks.
What should I do if I break or lose my aligners?
If you break or lose an Invisalign clear aligner, immediately contact your doctor. They can order a replacement immediately to get your treatment process on track.
What happens after my Invisalign® treatment?
Once your treatment is over, you’re rewarded with a gorgeous smile and perfect teeth! However, you’ll most likely need to wear a retainer to keep your teeth straight. Make sure to contact us for more information.
