How to Properly Remove Your Invisalign® Dental Aligners

There is a right way and a wrong way to remove your Invisalign® dental aligners. If you do it wrong, you could end up damaging your aligners and maybe even your teeth. So, let’s go over the proper way to remove your Invisalign® dental aligners in East Bradenton, FL.

How to Properly Remove Your Invisalign® Dental Aligners

You will start at the back of your mouth and work your way forward by doing the following.

Starting with the top aligner arch, you will put your thumb or index finger on the last molar at the back of your mouth on the tongue side of your tooth. Next, you will gently push the top edge of your aligner down while carefully moving it away from your teeth.

You will then go to the other side of the top aligner arch and do the same thing. If your aligner is still not quite all the way down enough to remove, use your fingernail or an Invisalign® removal tool to get it the rest of the way off.

Now, you will move on to the bottom aligner arch. With the bottom aligner, you will do the same thing. The only difference is that you will place your finger on the outside of your tooth next to your cheek.

What Not to Do When Removing Your Invisalign® Dental Aligners

You should never remove your Invisalign® dental aligners by peeling them off from one side to the other. Doing so will likely damage your dental aligners and could possibly damage your teeth as well.
